I know, the \u201cPineapple\u201d thing throws people off sometimes, but it\u2019s not like you\u2019ve got a tropical fruit flying around your living room.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe title=\"Green Cheek Conure very fun to play in the water | conure sounds\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IqtN-Oyj-zw\" width=\"854\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"> &#8220;Pineapple&#8221; is just a fancy term for one of the color mutations of Green-Cheeked Conures, which sounds way more exotic than it actually is. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">It\u2019s like when your car\u2019s official color is something like \u201cSunset Fire Metallic,\u201d but you and everyone else just call it \u201corange.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Same bird species, just a different paint job.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Here\u2019s the thing with breeding: **As long as your birds aren\u2019t related, you\u2019re all good**.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"> In other words, no one\u2019s going to be raising an eyebrow at the local bird club because you have two Green-Cheeked Conures cozying up together, one in a regular ol\u2019 green suit and the other in its Pineapple get-up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">They\u2019re genetically compatible, and if they\u2019re not blood relatives, you\u2019re in the clear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/dev.windycityparrot.com\/product\/goldenfeast-conure-blend-bird-food-peanut-free-28-oz-794-g\/<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Also, a little insider knowledge: **No one sells a \u201cgood producing pair\u201d unless they\u2019ve given up on breeding altogether**. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">That\u2019s just bird-breeder logic. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">So if a conure pair have been passed around like a hot potato, there\u2019s probably a reason. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Maybe they weren&#8217;t exactly&#8230; stellar in the whole egg-to-chick department. Or maybe they&#8217;re just, well, not really into humans.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">MitchR relates: We have two gray cockatiels,\u00a0 Barney has been with us for 4 years now and Sweetie Pie has been with us for about 3 weeks.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Although the two share similarities like their lust for millet, their personalities are day and night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">I use that example begining to address your question because there&#8217;s really no way of knowing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">We&#8217;ve never had a pineapple conure but we did have an employee who brought his green cheek to work so we listened to a smoke alarm with a weak battery,\u00a0 all-day-long.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Environment,\u00a0 age, and sex all contribute to the overall persona of a bird.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Even if the two conures were hatched side by side and hand-fed until they fledged, there would be no accurate prediction of the two personalities&#8217; outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">That said, our three youngest budgies all named 1-2-3 (long story)\u00a0 appear to be interchangeable whether perched or in flight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">While we&#8217;re on the topic of budgies, a term I use &#8220;specifically&#8221; rather than &#8220;parakeets,&#8221; because there are larger parakeet birds like Indian Ringneck parakeets and mustache parakeets (commonly just called parrots)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">The same holds true for conures.\u00a0 Whereas a green cheek conure will weigh 60 to 70 G, a Patagonian conure can weigh between 240 and 310 G and is roughly the size of a Timneh African gray.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The good news? **Green-Cheeked Conures are FUN**. <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They\u2019re like tiny feathered clowns with just enough attitude to keep things interesting. If you give them a lot of toys and a spacious cage, they\u2019ll entertain themselves\u2014and you\u2014without the need for a ton of human interaction. Don\u2019t expect cuddles, but do expect a lot of personality.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Green cheeks are naturally **entertaining, mischievous, and full of personality**. <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Give them a large cage, plenty of toys, and a whole lot of patience, and they\u2019ll bring a vibrant energy to your home. And who knows?
